Hi All, (from London)

Hi All,

I've just joined this forum, as I am going to buy an apartment in Turkey, (Alanya).
I'm going in December to view, (and hopefully buy something nice).

UK weather get's me down, especially in the winter, so I just need to get away from wifey, mum and my 5 kids every now and then.
(Sometimes, I may even let some or all of them can come with me).

I work in IT, and enjoy playing table tennis, (Ping Pong), which seems to be the perfect game for an 'ol git' like myself.

I will probably require lots of good advice, re purchase and upkeep of the property, ie. bank account, which bank to use, TL or Euro A/C, English speaking solicitor to help with buying the property, reputable management agents, recommendations of cleaners, builders, plumbers, electricians.

Anyway hope to be posting my specific questions soon.

Kind regards,

Rash

Good luck I'm sure you'll find something really lovely. Alanya and surrounding areas particularly are just fabulous. The climate is wonderful.

Hi rlohiya, welcome.TLF has a multitude of knowledge on moving to Turkey.Alanya is a beautiful place which part? as it covers from Manavgat to Marmutlar. Now is the time to buy, in my opinion, bargains to be had.Careful with the Emlaks, you dont need a solicitor, but it's up to you.Bank rates are good at the moment 12% in some.Good luck.

Welcome! Hosgeldiniz!!
Now, let me interrupt all the positive shouters out there.
12% interest rate might sound amazing, until you find out theres 11.9% core inflation. Which means it will proceed deep into 2018, hardly covering any risks.
The cost of living here is fairly less than back in the UK, once that matters. Notably less.

Yes, it is cheaper here than the UK, but like anywhere the costs per person for a couple are substantially less than for a person living alone.

Hi, welcome.

I'm a Londoner and an IT worker also lol. I'm not experienced enough to advise you on property in Alanya, so will let others advise you.
