I started this forum to help people find information about buying properties in Turkey & North Cyprus.

I do not have any alliance or partnerships with any Estate Agents or Developers at the moment, if and when I do develop any relationships with any company of individual, I will make that clear to everyone.

I do not intend to push any company or individual's business, I hope to enable people to share their own experiences with everyone, so that we can all learn, obviously there will be attempts by unscrupulous people to get round this by using false IDs and the like, but I will do my best to block people like that, there is enough technology in place to trace dodgy people :D

I can only give my personal opinion based on my actual experience in dealing with any company or individual, not because I get any commissions or perks.

This forum is intended to offer information for readers to make their own minds, please ask other members about their experiences or recommendations with any particular company.

If you are thinking of buying a property anywhere, please ensure you do your homework before parting with any money.

Thanks for visiting [8D]

Just an update for the few regulars :D

I have decided to change the name of the forum to TurkishLiving.com you can use the much shorter name to access it too.

Reason for the change being the forum is used more for general Turkey related discussions then just Estate Agents.

The forum is still open for Estate Agent discussion as before and my policy for open, uncensored discussions has not changed. [8D]

Hi Mushtaq,
The number of regulars is growing daily from what I can see. Whichever name you use it is still the same well run forum. However, in view of the recent piccie postings perhaps a more appropriate name might be Turkish Living and wildlife Forum!!! LOL. Look out folks Keith has lots more piccies of wildlife he is more than ready to share !! Mushtaq what have you started??
Lynn.

I want to voice my concerns about the estate agent we have used. We have our deeds and everything is done and dusted so to speak BUT......he has never told us anything about how to pay bills or home insurance. When I email he never replies. Our friend also is in the process of buying from him and they requested a solicitor but they have not heard from the estate agent or the solicitor. Like us our friends never hear from the estate agent and for the little contact we have with him he has said our friends deeds are through but never phoned them but said it to us. They are livid that he has'nt appointed a solicitor on their behalf and so they won't pay the balance until one is appointed. I feel embarrased that I recommended him to my friends. I will not recommend him anymore.

Anna, I'm sure things will get sorted......eventualy :D
What I have learnt in dealing with the local business people, is that things happen in Turkish time.

Time there is very flexible :), you have to learn to keep your humour, learn to go with the flow, and nudge them from time to time.

I think most people don't mean to give you the run around, but they tend not to have schedules or the schedules tend to move around a lot :D

Anyway, it's not as bad as it seems (I hope ;))

Which agent did you use?

You are right about Turkish Mushtaq. We came to realise that the Turkish equivalent to the spanish Manyana is "Ah we wait for the man from Izmir". Every time we asked when the patio door (which was mis-aligned) was going to be fixed, this was the standard reply - and to other things too. It got quite funny cos when we asked when a job was to be done we ended up answering ourselves saying "yeah yeah we know, we are waiting for the man from Izmir", this was usually greeted with vigorous head nodding and a shrug of the shoulders.

There are some bits of the building work we were having done that we just gave up on and decided to do them ourselves rather than keep waiting for the builder to complete. Mick for some reason finds the odd jobs in Turkey more appealing than in England, must be the sun and Efes effect!

Hi Anna

Welcome to the forum. We are going to see Nazim in September about sorting some insurance out. So I can let you know what Nazim tells us when I get back.

Hi Mia and welcome. Two Keiths whoa that is more than anyone could cope with, one is bad enough....sorry sweetie!!! Is the curly mop still showing on the other forum then? I thought it was just us that could see it now cos Mushtaq has restored the original one.
Mushtaq, I did the F5 thing but can't get the original back on our screen and friends are saying it is still showing on theirs too. Is there anyway we can get the original back or should we submit a new piccie?
Lynn.

Lynn.....I think the curly mop was cute....he looked so boyish with it!!! Can you give him a moustache? Can I have a few pounds or should I say stones knocked off mine? I'd also like some cheekbones , a tummy tuck, bum tuck, thigh lift, breast reduction and botox please!
